The University of Oregon, Eugene:  26 June 2006

Eugene is Track Town to any American T&F fan.  Hayward Field, where Steve Prefontaine built his legend, is like Mecca to those who
are passionate about the sport.  Topping things off with a delicious meal at Track Town Pizza ended the day right. [16 photos]

Welcome to Track Mecca

The famed covered grandstand

The homestretch grandstand. You can almost hear the "Pre! Pre! Pre!" chants echoing...

The far turn. UO hosted the United States' Olympic Trials in 1976 and 1980.

UO also hosted the NCAA Championships several times.

Hayward plays host to the Prefontaine Classic every spring, a meet that draws top athletes from around the world.

I bet that balcony is a good seat for track meet.

O is for Oregon, which the locals pronounce like "Organ."

The Individual Cheese. Delicious and spot-hitting. Much better than the pizza I had here in 2000. And the Inversion IPA was ten shades of yum.

TTP's walls are decorated with framed photos of UO track and CC legends and international T&F visitors.
